When considering a stallion to add to your breeding program, it is important to consider three essential elements: quality, heritage, and progeny. Quality is found in the stallion’s movement, type, and performance. Heritage is the means through which this quality is channeled and reproduced from one generation to the next, hopefully with improvement in each foal. Finally, the stallion’s progeny should reflect his strengths and those of his predecessors proudly, and carry them with grace in the show circuit or on the trail.

TAF Adonis Bey is a rare stallion who embodies each of these three elements. One of the last foals of Huckleberry Bey, and out of the three-time National Champion mare Venus Del Nilo, he was not bred until the age of 12. He was started by Gordon Potts, and eventually was shown to class A championships in English Pleasure, Country Pleasure, Native Costume, and Show Hack, with three U.S. National Top Tens in Native Costume, with the Andersons. In 2003, he took the Region 9 Reserve Champion victory pass in Show Hack right behind his half-brother, TAF Pavilo, son of Venus Del Nilo, who went on to a U.S. National Reserve Championship later that year in Open Show Hack. We were very proud of both of them.

Standing 15.2 hh, Adonis has a graceful, high trot and incredibly upright neck, with small, well-set ears and large eyes. He is an especially balanced horse who can perform the difficult maneuvers of show hack, such as the collected trot and canter with extreme ease. His intelligence is apparent in his natural athleticism and excitement in the show ring. These are aspects of quality and heritage that any breeder should consider when looking for a sire.

Additionally, Adonis is the sire of extremely talented and athletic horses. He puts a bold and agile frame to each of his babies, with lots of chrome and presence. CTL Caspian Bey (x IV Silver Shadow) is evidence of his ability as a sire. Caspian, who was born in April of 2004, is currently 15.3hh and still growing. Only under saddle since July of 2006, he demonstrates a strong propensity towards western pleasure, with an incredibly smooth jog and lope, long neck and fine head. His sister, Haliberry Bey, is currently being trained for dressage and eventing. As you will see by browsing through the Foals Page, every one of the mares Adonis has been bred to have been improved by the cross. Their foals are more athletic, more refined, taller, and show more personality and pizzazz than their predecessors.

TAF Adonis Bey is a sire for mare owners who wish to improve their breeding program’s quality, heritage, and progeny. If you are interested in breeding, please contact Tom or Linda Anderson for more information.
